Raised in a bi-lingual environment, Karen is fluent in both Chinese and English. She is inspired by the variety of lifestyles and traditions within different cultures. Since she was young, Karen has had an interest in how these traits can affect art and architecture.
Trying to find an outlet for her passion and creativity, Karen first explored design at BCIT in the Interior Design Management program. After discovering her calling, Karen wanted to dive deeper in and enrolled into the Bachelors of Interior Design program at Kwantlen Polytechnic University.
At SGDI Karen pushes the boundaries of design for both her clients, and herself. Encouraging the choice of unique elements, that stand out from their backdrop, creates sophisticated spaces; clients can be proud of their one-of-a-kind design, and Karen gets to continuously refine her style.
With her background and understanding of eastern and western customs, Karen incorporates a fusion of ideas from two different cultures. Drawn to simplicity and beauty, she hopes to help create functional and aesthetically balanced spaces for clients that address their needs and lifestyle.
“Design creates culture.
Culture shapes values.
Values determine the future.”
