Michael
Custom Home Designer

From a young age Michael always had an interest in art and design; from creating structures with his grandpa’s carpet samples to designing and building tree houses in the neighbourhood ravines, there was always something to keep busy with.
After completing high school Michael was encouraged to learn a trade before jumping into post-secondary, which led to 5 years of steel framing and drywall installation. In addition to framing and boarding he also spent 2 years doing flooring installations which gave him a great deal of experience working with trades and developing a strong background in construction knowledge and practices.
In 2010 after moving from Saskatchewan to Vancouver, Michael enrolled in the Interior Design program at the Visual College of Art and Design where he earned his Diploma and went on to work for a residential design firm. What interested him the most while studying Interior Design was the space planning and drafting; this opened the door to continuing his education in Architectural Building Technology at BCIT with an emphasis in Building Code.
At SGDI, Michael is excited to see houses he has designed come to life and being able to finally have all the pieces of his studies and experience come together!
Michael is a member of the Building Officials Association and is working towards membership with the Applied Science Technologists and Technicians of British Columba.
